From the time that ASME’s founders, Henry R. Worthington, Alexander Lyman Holley, and John Edson Sweet, gathered in New York City for the first time in 1880 until today, ASME standards have changed over the years to include new construction materials, to address new topics, and to incorporate new calculation methods.
A few years ago, I prepared a short-term training course called “An Introduction to Standards”, and the following image was related to the part of that file where I was explaining the ASME standard.
